Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for RitualEffective date: 27 May 2026
Last updated: 27 May 2026This is the privacy policy for Ritual, an iOS app built and published by George Livanos. This policy explains what data the app handles, what it doesn't, and how to get in touch if you have questions.Summary:
Ritual stores everything on your device. We don't have servers. We don't collect, sell, or share your data. We can't see your routines, your completion history, your streaks, or how you use the app. If you uninstall Ritual, your data is gone — there's no copy anywhere else. The only third parties that touch your device because of Ritual are:- Apple, when you make an in-app purchase (the optional Supporter unlock). Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether the purchase succeeded. Apple's own privacy policy applies.
- RevenueCat, the service we use to manage in-app purchases. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier so it can confirm to your device whether you've previously bought the Supporter unlock. They never receive your name, email, or any routine data. That's the entire scope. The rest of this document is the detailed version.---What data the app stores on your deviceWhen you use Ritual, the following data is created and saved locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's built-in storage (AsyncStorage):- Routines you build (names, tasks, durations, icons, colours, schedules, intentions)
- Completion history (which routines you completed, when, for how long, optional mood ratings)
- Settings (your chosen timer colour, background gradient, appearance preference, sound preference)
- A flag indicating whether you've seen the first-run intro overlayThis data lives only on your device. It is never sent to any server we operate, because we don't operate one.If you use the Export Backup feature in Settings, the app generates a JSON file containing this data and lets you share it via the iOS share sheet (to AirDrop, email, Files, etc.). What happens to that file after it leaves the app is your choice and outside our control.---What data the app collectsNone.Ritual does not collect personal data, analytics, telemetry, crash reports, device identifiers, location, contacts, photos, or anything else. There is no account system. There is no login. There is no "user" record on any server.---In-app purchases and third-party servicesRitual offers one optional in-app purchase: the Supporter unlock. Buying it is purely cosmetic — it unlocks a custom timer colour wheel and helps cover ongoing development costs. The core app is fully functional without it.When you tap "Unlock Supporter":1. Apple's StoreKit handles the payment. Apple's privacy policy governs what they do with payment information. Ritual never sees your payment details, Apple ID, or any personal information about you.
2. RevenueCat acts as the middleware between Apple and the app — they verify that the purchase happened and remember it so you can restore your unlock on a new device. RevenueCat assigns your install an anonymous identifier (a random string). They do not receive your name, email, location, routine data, or anything else. Their privacy policy is at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.If you never tap "Unlock Supporter" or "Restore Purchases", neither Apple nor RevenueCat is contacted by the app at all.---What the app does NOT do- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising, no ad networks, no third-party ad SDKs
- No social features, no friends, no leaderboards, no sharing of your data with other users
- No push notifications (the app cannot send you any notifications)
- No background location, no location access at all
- No access to your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera
- No data sales, no data brokers, no marketing partners---** Children's privacy**Ritual is suitable for users of any age. Because the app collects no personal data, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations by default — there is nothing to collect from a child or anyone else.---Your rightsBecause we don't have your data, requests to access, export, modify, or delete personal data don't apply in the usual sense. Your data is already in your hands:- To access or export it: open Ritual → Settings → Your data → Export backup
- To delete it: uninstall the app, or use the Import backup feature with an empty payload to wipe local storageIf you have questions about these rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, please contact us at the address below.---Changes to this policyIf we ever change how Ritual handles data — for example, if a future version adds optional cloud sync — this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will also be announced in the app itself before they take effect. We will never silently introduce data collection. If a future version of Ritual ever collects data, it will require your explicit opt-in.---ContactQuestions, concerns, or anything else privacy-related:Email: [email protected]
